Adding an Interactive Grading Rubric to an Assignment

You can add a rubric to an existing assignment or when creating an assignment.

1.Go to the assignment you want to add a rubric.

2. Select the option menu (chevron icon) and select “Edit” item from the menu.

3. In the Assignment Information scroll down to Grading and select Add Rubric.

4. You can select from three options.

Select Rubric:  Use this option if the rubric already has been created.

Create New Rubric:  Use this option to create a new rubric.

Create From Existing:  Use this option to use an existing rubric as a template to create a new rubric.

5. Once the rubric is associated with the assignment you can choose the rubric type “Used for Grading” or “Used for Secondary Evaluation”.  Students are only able to see grading rubrics.

You can only use one primary grading rubric. When you fill it out, it will automatically populate the student's score. You then have the option to manually alter that score afterwards for things such as extra credit or late submission deductions.

6. You can also select to show the graded rubric to students with their scores, without their scores (they only see an ungraded version for informational purposes), or only after grading is complete. If you choose “No” here, students will not be able to see the rubric at all. It is recommended that you select “Yes, with rubric scores”.
