Overview: Preparing Your Course for Term Start
Review the Course Content and Settings
Review the course menu and content to confirm they are correct.
If you use any integrated Blackboard tools in your course, check to make sure the ones you need are available. Some commonly used tools are:
Upload Documents and Update Term Specific Settings
Upload your syllabus and course schedule
If your course is copied from a master that uses assignment due dates or content availability dates, run the Date Management tool to review and update those dates
If your course does not use assignment due dates, consider adding them. All your assignment due dates show up in the Blackboard calendar. Students can review this calendar and even sync it to their personal devices so they don’t miss any deadlines.
Personalize the Course
Add your instructor bio and a course introduction to the Course Information
Add a “Welcome” announcement that students will see when they log into the course for the first time. For something more engaging and personal, consider adding a video announcement.
