Surveys

You can use the Surveys tool to create ungraded questionnaires for feedback from your students. The survey responses will be anonymous, but you can see if a student has completed the survey or not.

Create a Survey

In your course, go to the faculty-only Course Management menu below the main course menu. Under “Control Panel” select “Course Tools” an then “Tests, Surveys, and Pools”.

Select “Surveys”.

You can choose to create a new survey or import an existing survey. If you want to import an existing survey, you will first need to export that survey from another course.

To create a new survey, choose “Build Survey”.

Survey questions are built using the same question building tools used for building test questions. Similarly, surveys are deployed the same way and can use most of the same options (timed, multiple chances, etc.). However, while the results are recorded, individual student reposes are anonymous.

Viewing and Downloading Results

You can view the survey’s results from the Grade Center. Or, in the Grade Center, each survey’s menu also has a ‘Download Results’ option that allows you to compile the questions and answers in a spreadsheet to review offline.

When you download test results, the spreadsheet includes the students' names and usernames. Unlike tests, surveys are intended to gather opinions from students where they can reply honestly because their anonymity is protected. As a result, when you download survey results, the results won't include any information that identifies each student.
